Resume Parsing Meaning

Resume parsing is a recruitment process in which parsing software/a parser is operated to break down a candidate’s resume and extract the required data, like work experience and skills. The extracted info is then converted into a structured format like JSON or XML. This format makes it easier for computers to process the given data, in turn making it easier for HR professionals and recruiters to access required information within an ATS or recruitment database.

Examples of Resume Parsing

Resume parsing is used by many companies to participate in the automation of candidate data in resumes and send it into their applicant tracking system.

In resume parsing, the recruiter can easily focus on shortlisting the job seekers according to a given skill or qualification without necessarily reading each of the resumes.

The current AI and NLP advances in the resume parsing technology can now enhance accuracy in deciphering varied resume formats and structures.
