What Is Probation Period?

The probation period is the first stage of the employment period where the performance, the behavior and the performance of the new employee in the job are tested. It enables the employers to determine whether the individual is performing as expected of him or her in the organization before they can ascertain permanent employment. Normally the probation term lasts between three and six months. Employees during this period are directed, supervised, and can be given feedback with the view of enhancing performance. Full-time status is often confirmed because of its successful completion.

She served her probation period and was turned into a permanent employee.

The company also prolonged his probation period to enable the company to evaluate his performance further.

The probation periods are also used to guarantee that new employees are fitted into the organization.
